Small brass book that when closed meas. approx. 1.00 x 1.00 x 0.50 an inch. The cover is decorated with a crossed anchor and Christian cross with a heart at center surrounded by scroll decoration. Back cover has a blank medallion at center surrounded by the same scrollwork as on the front. The front edge has a small clasp that still works while the hinged spine gives the appearance a book.
Upon opening the piece there are two pages. Each page is capable of holding two gem size images back to back for a total of four. However, this particular book only has two tintype images, one on each of the facing pages at center. One image is of a young girl and the other is a boy of about the same age. Perhaps late teens or early twenties. Faces and hair are all that can be seen.
Images are clear and look to be later than Civil War. [ad] [ph:L]
