Image is of a young Confederate soldier seated and leaning against a table. He wears a dark sack coat with a medium colored shirt and a large bowtie with a print pattern. At his waist is a wide leather belt held closed by a forked tongue frame buckle. Half of the buckle is visible with the other half being blocked by the subject’s hand. Clearly visible on the belt are two size holes arranged one above another.

Image has good clarity and contrast. The photographer tinted the subject’s cheeks red and touched his buttons with gilt paint. It looks like he also tried to apply gilt to the belt plate but he did not apply much.
