SIXTH PLATE TINTYPE OF TWO “PARDS”

$850.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1139-63

Image is of two seated Union cavalrymen with one man’s arm draped over his friend’s shoulders.

The soldier on the left in the photo wears a dark slouch hat turned up on one side with crossed sabers pinned to the front of the crown. He also wears a dark cavalry shell jacket with sergeant chevrons and light trousers. His pardner also wears a dark slouch hat with crossed sabers on the crown, a dark sack coat with a turned up collar, light trousers and knee high boots. Each subject has very light tinting to their cheeks.

Clarity and contrast are excellent. There are some oxidation spots along the edge closest to the sergeant, but these are minor.

Photo comes in a half Union case with an exterior decoration of patriotic shields and scrollwork with a spread-winged eagle at center perched on a scroll that reads “CONSTITUTION AND THE LAWS” in a laurel leaf wreath. Decorative mat and stamped brass frame are present as are the hinges to the Union case.  [ad] [ph:m]
