Image is a gem type mounted on a CDV sized card with an oval frame on the front.
The unidentified subject wears a light colored kepi with a dark crown and crossed cannon barrels on the front. He also wears a dark suit jacket with a white shirt and white bowtie. Subject’s cheeks are lightly tinted rose and he is sporting a goatee.
Contrast and clarity are good. Surface of the image shows some bubbles of rust off to one side of the subject’s face with a smaller spot above his head. There is also some dirt near the chin. Mount has light surface dirt.
Reverse has a paper label for J. H, POPE’S CELEBRATED ELECTRO EXQUISITO GEMTYPES… NO. 91 WEST BALTIMORE ST. Research shows the photographer was in the city of Baltimore. [ad] [PH:L]
