Clear tintype of a seated Union soldier posed with one hand resting in his lap and the other holding the hilt of an import sword placed beside him. He wears a dark artillery or cavalry shell jacket with sword belt and shoulder support strap. His belt plate and all buttons have been touched with gilt paint.
Contrast and clarity are good but the plate does have some solarization shaped in a ring around the subject’s head.
Image comes with decorative brass mat and stamped brass frame.
Only half of the union case is present. Case has a fruit bowl motif on the exterior. [ad][ph:L]
