FULL PLATE TINTYPE OF ARMED UNION SOLDIER IN OVAL WOOD FRAME

$275.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 490-6292

Image is a full-plate tintype of a young Union soldier posed with his accoutrements and his musket by his side.

The subject wears a dark forage cap with a dark single-breasted frock coat with piping on the collar and cuffs. Attached to his left chest is what looks like a watchchain. It is hard to tell if the chain is just for decoration or if there is a slit pocket on the chest holding a small watch. He also wears his cartridge box and sling with both the box plate and sling plate present. At his waist is his belt with a Pattern 1839 oval US buckle and cap box. The musket he holds by his side is fitted with a saber bayonet.

Clarity is excellent but the contrast is a bit on the dark side. Plate looks to have some minor waviness to it.

Oval frame is approx. 1.25 inches deep and is in very nice condition.

Item comes ready to hang.  [ad][ph:L]
