This unusual card has three bust view gem-types attached. Of the three names listed only one can be clearly read.
Top left is of a bearded soldier in a dark frock coat. Under the photo in period pencil is “J. A.” last name looks like “FARNHAM” and “CO. F” ??N?.”
The second solder at top right is also bearded and wearing a dark frock coat. Under his photo in period pencil is “H. A. M????? CO. B, 111 (OHIO?) A possible identification for this soldier is Henry Mitchell who enlisted as a private in Company B, 111th Ohio on August 1, 1862 and died of disease at Bowling Green, Kentucky on January 4, 1863 and is now buried in the Nashville Tennessee National Cemetery.
Bottom center is a clean cut union soldier also in a dark frock coat or shell jacket. Period ink ID under the photo reads “YOURS TRULY WILLIAM SANDERSON, CO. H, 7TH PA. CAV.”
William Sanderson enlisted as a private in Company H, 7th Pennsylvania Cavalry on February 23, 1864 and was discharged on June 12, 1865.
What the connection is between the three is almost impossible to determine without knowing all three names. [ad][ph:L]
