Image is a tintype bust view of Private Robert S. Hogg. The image is attached to a CDV sized mount with an embossed frame. Image is still in the original album page with pencil ID of “ROBT. HOGG DIED IN CIVIL WAR LIBBY PRISON.”

Image has good clarity and contrast with a bit of rose tint to the subject’s cheeks. Mount and album page have light surface dirt.

Robert S. Hogg was born in New York in 1843. He enlisted at Binghamton as a private in Company K, 104th New York Infantry on July 17, 1863. He was captured December 2, 1863 at Rapidan, Virginia and died at Richmond on May 15, 1864.

Hogg is buried in the “UNKNOWN” section of Richmond National Cemetery.  [ad][ph:L]
