Offered here is a 1/4 plate tintype image of armed Union soldier.
Image is of a standing Union soldier posing before a photographer’s painted canvas backdrop. Soldier wears regulation 9-button frock coat and is holding a musket with bayonet. He wears a regulation forage cap.
Image is slightly dark but details remain visible. Buttons and cap insignia are gilted.
Both halves of the case are present but broken and separated at the spine. Exterior of case shows moderate wear. [jet] [ph:L]
