Offered here is a classic Southern soldier photograph. This is a sixth-plate tintype matted and framed in a hard "Union" case.

Image shows chest up view of soldier in uniform. He is wearing a collared shirt and bow tie under a Richmond Depot jacket with characteristic button-down shoulder tabs. Buttons are gilted and his cheeks display a slight blush.

Contrast is good. There is a slight vertical crease through the center of the image and face of our subject causing two small "scrapes" on his face and hairline. Overall, image remains very nice. Mat, glass, and wrapped frame are fine. Hard case features geometric designs. Top edge on one half of case is broken and missing. Case still opens and closes in good order.

An honest "Johnny Reb" image. [jet] [ph:L]
