A rarity to find four photographs, a complete family, contained in a single large case.
This thermoplastic case, when opened to view the images, measures 6” x 7.5” overall. Containing four sixth-plate ambrotypes, the mother is at top, left; the father at top, right; two young daughters at bottom, left; and older daughter at bottom, right. Condition and clarity of images is good. Several of the copper frame wraps show light green verdigris.
The thermoplastic “Union” case portrays a dog and child theme. Both halves match. There is a slight wobble to the case hinges due to a well repaired break. The case is in very good condition despite the repair.
A very nice family portrait. [jet][ph:L]
