This is a nice image of a seated Confederate soldier in uniform. This is a 1/9-plate tintype with mat, glass, and wrapped frame; all in a hard gutta percha case.
Soldier wears a buttoned up jacket and trousers. He holds a book in his lap. Cheeks are tinted and buttons are lightly gilted. Contrast is good.
Gutta percha case is brown with geometric patterns. Case is undamaged.
A great view of a “plain ole” Confederate soldier. [jet] [ph:L]
