Offered here is a 1/6 plate tintype of a soldier in a half case. Full standing view with painted back drop. Soldier wears kepi, vest, short zouave jacket, white gloves, waist sash, baggy pantaloons, and white gaiters. He is equipped with standard leather waist belt, oval “US” buckle (although he’s wearing it upside down), M1855 socket bayonet, and he is posed with a musket. For unknown reason, the emulsion showing the musket has been scratched away.
Image is housed in the usual way; under glass, copper mat, and copper frame. All complete in a half case. Image shows fine contrast, but the subject may have twitched just a bit during the exposure. [jet][ph:L]
