View is of the Orndorff Mill near the Middle Bridge along Antietam Creek. Photo is by B. W. T. PHREANER of Hagerstown, Maryland.
The image shows the creek in the foreground with the mill itself on the far side. The building is stone with a wooden water wheel visible next to the house.
Clarity and contrast are excellent.
Stereo view is mounted on heavy orange stock with Phreaner’s name along one edge and “PICTURESQUE WESTERN MARYLAND” on the other.
Reverse has period pencil inscription of “ON THE PIKE BETWEEN SHARPSBURG & KEEDYSVILLE.” Reverse has some light surface dirt. [ad] [ph:L]
