This dual image features three members of the Pahute Tribe of the Great Basin Region. They are dressed in tribal wear with animal pelts and blankets piled and wrapped around their lower bodies. The photo prints are mounted to a light green card with minor edge rolling – mostly along the top and sides – and a very slight and small rust stain at lower right.
Text on either side of the front reads “Carter’s celebrated Indian Stereoscopic Views”. The title reads “Pahute Indians.” The reverse is the same color and shows minimal edge wear. At center is an engraved-style portrait of Carter’s store with text reading “CARTER’S VIEW EMPORIUM, EAST TEMPLE STREET, SALT LAKE CITY. ORDERS BY MAIL PROMPTLY FILLED.” Overall measurements are 6.95” x 3.5”.
A very interesting and rare stereo view card. Perfect for the general collector or those with an interest in the history of the American West. [cm][ph:L]
