This Model 1863 Cavalry Bit includes the original digger’s typewritten tag that reads “M1863 Union Army Forged Steel Curb Bits found in Spotsylvania Co. Virginia in 1961.” It measures 5 inches wide and 4 inches long having been shortened, possibly to fit a smaller or younger horse. It has some of the remaining rein loops. Features some light pitting and surface rust.
