Face has a “salt & pepper” patina with a good strong “US” stamping. Face is free from any major dings or dents but does have scattered oxidation from ground action.
Reverse has 99% of the lead fill and both rusted eyelets. Written on the lead in modern in is “MONTPELIER 5/3/91” with the name of the digger. There is also a rectangular white label attached that repeats the recovery information.
Montpelier is the former home of President James Madison and is located approx. 43 miles west of Fredericksburg, Virginia. [ad]
