This was a common Schenkl pattern purchased by the Federals. Approximately 9” long. This unusual looking shell features seven vertical ribs on the tapered base. It originally employed a papier-mache sabot, which is not present but a reproduction sabot comes with this for display. There is no fuse present. The threads are good and a Schenkl fuse could most likely be screwed in if so desired. The lead case shot is visible when looking down into the fuse hole.
This is a dug shell and the iron is in excellent condition and was painted black at some point. [jet] [ph:L]
