Typical cannon ball for Civil War smoothbore artillery pieces in “dug” condition. This has a complete Bormann time fuse in place. Fuse shows some oxidation but still clearly exhibits many of the timing marks. Iron surface is solid and just slightly crusty in spots. Some of the tin straps and small fragments of the wood sabot are still adhered to the ball. The larger section of wood sabot that remains is separate from the ball and solid.
Unknown recovery location. Unloaded and safe. [jet] [ph:L]
