This small lot consists of a pair of dug Civil War coat buttons. The location of their recovery is unknown.
The first is a brass block “I” button. The face has a very nice dark patina with a clearly defined “I” for infantry on the front. It is free of any cracks or pushes. The back is blank, has the full shank and is slightly pushed.
The second is a brass US general service eagle button with a patina that matches the previous button. The face has good details and is free of any cracks or pushes. The reverse has a complete shank and has a raised maker’s mark in a depressed channel that reads “SCOVILL MFG. CO. WATERBURY.”
Set would make a nice little display to represent each side in the war. [ad] [ph:L]
