The standard ammunition for the 3-inch Parrot rifled cannon. This shell was fired but remains in excellent condition. Possibly an early pick-up. The top of the fuse adaptor is deteriorated but the upper threads and a chunk of wood remains jammed in the fuse hole.
Iron sabot shows rifling grooves. Iron surfaces remain smooth and very clean for an excavated relic. Drilled on side to disarm. Recovered near Richmond, Virginia. [JET] [ph:L]
