Produced by the Spencer Rifle Company of Boston, Massachusetts, this Spencer breechloading repeating carbine is in very good EXCAVATED condition. Having been found so long ago, all iron components remain is excellent condition. This is identified as an 1865 model due to the presence of the Stabler cut-off device.
This carbine is nearly complete and in one piece, missing only the barrel band, sling swivel, sling bar, and front sight. Carbine measures approximately 39.25” overall. Hammer is in full cock position. Magazine tube, and all pieces remain strong and solid with no signs of active rust. The piece is uncoated.
Recovered near Christiana, TN, (just south of Murfreesboro) around 1960. A terrific “dug” carbine. [jet] [ph:L]
