Excavated brass cape pin. Although not actually a “pin,” a thin chain connected two such pieces and was run through button holes to hold a cape closed. These are found in various shapes including busts of popular personalities. This one is in the shape of a star and approximately 1” across.

There is a thick loop cast on the back with small hole where cape chain connected. Very nice “dug” condition with nice patina.  Recovered from camp site near Fredericksburg, Virginia.  [jet] [PH:L]
