Excavated brass cape pin. Although not actually a “pin,” a thin chain connected two such pieces and was run through button holes to hold a cape closed. These are found in various shapes including busts of popular personalities. This one is in the shape of a star & crescent and approximately 1” across.

There is a thick loop cast on the back with small hole where cape chain connected as well as a hole in the crescent. Very nice “dug” condition with perfect dark patina.

Recovered from the Roulette Farm at Antietam.  [jet] [ph:L]
