Item Code: 160-38
Item is the heavy hand forged iron head of a fascine knife along with its hand forged socket.
The blade meas. approx. 6.00 inches long x 3.00 inches at its widest. Socket is 4.50 inches long.
The true edge has several nicks and is dull. The top edge is approx. 0.50 an inch thick and shows signs of hammering.
Blade is marked on one side “R. NASH.” There is also a “C.P.” in white ink for Crown Point. Attached to one side is an old paper label that reads “REV. WAR MEAT CHOPPER. ‘R.NASH’ MAKER. DUG NEAR CROWN POINT, N.Y.”
Despite the item’s similarity to a meat cleaver, it is no doubt a military fascine knife in very nice relic condition. [ad] [ph:L]
