This is a scarce bullet from Eley Brothers in England. Eley shipped many thousand revolver cartridges into the Confederacy during the Civil War. The cartridges were made following the Hayes patent to fabricate skin cartridges strengthened with thread. These were then packaged in a protective paper envelope with a cloth tear strip.
Used in Tranter, Kerr, and Adams revolvers.
This bullet is one of the rarer style bullets used by Eley. Pointy nose, two deep grooves, and solid base. Light gray patina overall. Excellent condition.
Measures 0.377” x 0.662”. [jet] [ph:jet]
