This is an odd bullet found mostly in the western campaigns. Named a “Bavarian” Sharps for no reason I know of. However, these are recovered from Civil War sites and are rare items.
This specific style features a pointy nose two wide, flat grooves, and an apparent tie-ring. It does have a solid base, so is intended for a breech loading weapon.
There is a slight nick on one side of the nose and this bullet has a good white patina overall.
A scarce and unusual bullet. [jet] [ph:jet]
