Excavated 4.2”, 30-pounder Parrott shell. Iron body is in very good condition with minor surface pitting as is to be expected with an excavated relic.
Someone painted information on side of the shell in white paint; erroneously wrote “iron sabot”.
Zinc fuse adaptor is well deteriorated and brass sabot was stripped off when fired.
This shell has been drilled and unloaded, the drill hole (4” up from the base) was then refilled but is visible.
Recovered near Vicksburg, MS. Nice displayable shell. [jet] [ph:L]
Extra shipping charge required.
