This is a variation of the classic "Richmond" style Confederate cavalry spur and is in good condition. The iron rowel is missing. The brass has an even green patina with some traces of the Orange County red dirt. There are no bends or cracks to the main body of the spur, only the very ends of the neck that held the iron rowel.

This spur shares characteristics of what collectors call the “Richmond” pattern in that it has flat side bars with squared slots. This variation features an unusual circular neck with a large ring cast at the base of the neck.

Found in Orange, Virginia.   [jet] [PH:L]
