US M1851 NCO SWORD BELT PLATE RECOVERED IN ORANGE, VIRGINIA

$300.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1184-130

Standard regulation M1851 NCO sword belt plate measuring 50mm by 83mm. Although a wreath was present on this belt plate at one time, it is no longer attached. However, the style of the integral eagle motif is quite pleasing.

This belt plate shows traces of solder where the wreath would have been attached at one time. The front of this plate shows a ruddy red-brown finish.

Back of belt plate shows an integral tongue with no bench number present. The metal retains a dark brown finish overall with some green patina.

This NCO sword belt plate was recovered in Orange, Virginia, a location at the center of the Virginia battlefields which was central to the Civil War.    [cla] [ph:L]
