Model 1839 waist belt plate with central “US”. Plate has a perfect brown patina with some dirt remaining across the face.
Reverse has 100% of the lead fill with the two “puppy-paw” belt studs and the belt hook present. A piece of the original leather remains in place under the belt studs.
Found with the belt plate is the brass “keeper” which also retains small bits of the original leather belt.
This great set was recovered around Orange, Virginia. [jet] [ph:L]
