Simple Confederate frame buckle. This is a small size, measuring 59mm wide x 68mm tall, and thin.
The outer frame and central bar exhibit inward bends no doubt caused by this thin buckle being used to support a heavily-loaded accoutrement belt. The two tines are broken off; likely from the same stresses that bent the frame.
This is a dug Confederate belt buckle with a nice, smooth brown-green patina.
This is from an old-time collector and is reported to have been recovered from Antietam. [jet] [ph:L]
