Rectangular brass plate with Gothic “NY” inside of a wreath. Plate has an integral keeper at one side of the face with the detachable keeper on the other.
Reverse has a long, narrow tongue.
The plate is in good condition with only a minor dent along the outside edge of the integral keeper. This area also has a small crack.
Entire surface has a light patina with a small area if oxidation along the right edge.
These plates were issued by the State of New York to light artillery and cavalry enlisted men and infantry NCOs. Issuing ceased in 1864. [ad] [ph:L]
