The plate looks to be a little larger than usually scene. It consists of two keepers that are approx. 2.50 inches long with the snake shaped hook connecting them.

The snake’s body shows details on each side. Both are side views of the snake with a double band at center

Brass has a very dark patina.

Plate was recovered in a Confederate camp at Fredericksburg, Virginia.    [ad][ph:L]
