Rectangular sheet brass plate for waist belts. This excavated example and was typically used by Confederates during the Civil War.
Measures approximately 68 x 43mm. Excavated condition with dark brown patina. Originally this would have had iron wire type of hook set sweated to the back. The hooks are long gone and the solder has been ground down by a previous owner leaving bright highlights.
Brass label states that this was from Smyrna, Tenn.
Buckle is in great relic condition, with nice patina. [jet] [ph:L]
