This southern bullet is .69 caliber with rounded nose and two large, flat grooves. It has an elliptical cavity and was nose cast.
An early bullet reference coined the name “British Sea Service” bullet which is unlikely. Locations of recoveries suggest an association with Louisiana troops.
The patina on this is a mottled white and gray. Base is slightly out of round.
Measurements: 0.680” x 1.040”
Reference TT#194. [jet][ph:JET]
