“Dug” US cartridge box plate for the outer flap of the infantry cartridge pouch. Large “US” in the center of the plate. The face remains smooth and dent free, but was over cleaned by the original finder leaving a mellow brass appearance.
Both iron loops are intact. Lead fill in the back in excellent shape with just a few minor edge chips. Cut into the lead is “YORKTOWN”. Luckily the back was not cleaned as the front was and shows nice patina. [jet] [ph:L]
