Excavated naval watercap fuse dated 1864 and in good condition. This fuse is made of brass with flange on top, with threaded portion and tapered body. A brass bushing is on this fuse to fit into larger shells.
This type of fuse was utilized by the US Navy for the big guns. Stamped on the flange, “ORD. D. [with anchor] 1864”. The screw-in top vent portion is missing. Very nice dark patina. [jet][ph:L]
