Offered here are two small stamped brass, gilted rank “bars”. These are from Smith’s patent officer’s shoulder straps. Stamped brass with gold wash to simulate embroidered shoulder straps. These bars could be from a 1st Lieutenant or a Captain.
In very good relic condition with traces of gilt remaining, mostly around edges. Recovered from the 2nd Corps camp in Taneytown, MD; part of the Gettysburg Campaign. [jet] [ph:L]
