This is the stamped brass, crossed cannons insignia for Federal artillery. Finely detailed to imitate high-grade insignia made with embroidered bullion thread. These were meant to be worn on head gear.

Measures approximately 2.5” across and 1.75” tall. This has a very nice dark patina from years in the ground. The insignia is in very good condition, especially considering it is an excavated relic, with no bends or twists. The only small piece missing is the cascabel of the cannon on left. There are four solder points on the back for attachment wires.
