Offered here is an iron chisel. Measures approximately 3.5” long. Rusty as to be expected of any excavated iron relic, but in completely solid condition. Cleaned and coated.

Recovered in the 1970s at the site of the South Redoubt in New York. This was a crucial part of the Hudson Highlands defenses during the American Revolution. It, along with the North Redoubt, was built to protect the Hudson River, which was vital for transporting troops and supplies. These redoubts, along with the Great Chain at West Point, aimed to prevent British ships from navigating the river. Occupied from about 1778 to 1783.

Revolutionary War relics are always a rarity, and as we celebrate the Semi-quincentennial (250th) anniversary during the next few years, these items will only be more difficult to obtain.  [jet][ph:L]
