The Battle of Horseshoe Bend, fought on March 27, 1814, was a key engagement in the Creek War, a conflict within the broader War of 1812. Led by General Andrew Jackson, U.S. forces decisively defeated the Red Stick faction of the Creek Nation at their fortified stronghold on the Tallapoosa River. This victory resulted in significant Creek land cessions and solidified Jackson's reputation.
Offered here is a small case of relics recovered near Dadeville, Alabama, about 5 miles south of the Horseshoe Bend battlefield. Included are numerous flat buttons and lead musket balls. There is also an iron buckle and a clay pipe bowl. From the collection of author/publisher Dean Thomas, there is a note in Dean’s hand taped to the back of the case. [jet][ph:L]
