The standard ammunition for the 3-inch Parrott rifled cannon. This shell was fired but remains in excellent condition. Possibly an early pick-up. The zinc fuse adaptor is chewed up at the top as is typical of these fuses.
Brass sabot shows distinct rifling. Drilled into the side to deactivate. Recovered around Richmond, Virginia. [JET][ph:L]
