An excavated fragment of a 3.67” Hotchkiss shell, being the lower half of the nose portion. These shells were for the M1841 bronze 6-pounder cannon that proved to be an excellent weapon during the Mexican War with some remaining in use during the Civil War.

This large chunk measures 3.55” x 4.25” and consists of about half of the nose portion. This has been well cleaned and coated, so no worries about future rust. This has been labelled as coming from 2nd Manassas. [jet] [ph:L]
