Excavated Hotchkiss time fuse adaptor. Brass with a flange and threads at top and narrow tube below. Used in Hotchkiss field artillery shells. A rolled paper time fuse would be placed in the central hole. Measures 2.25” long. Very nice green patina with tell-tale orange dirt in the threads.

Recovered by Jim Thomas at “Diggin In Virginia” on the Spillman Farm on the Brandy Station Battlefield.  [jet][ph:L]
