This bullet is a nose cast, Southern-made bullet. Basically, a typical grooved minie ball in .58 caliber with a pronounced teat in the cavity. In this case, the mold used to cast the usual three groove bullet was modified by milling down the inside edges of the grooves. Likely done to make it easier to extract the bullets from the mold, thus giving the appearance of six fine grooves.
A mold seam is visible along the body of the bullet. No nicks or dings. Nice tan and white patina.
