Excavated brass cape pin and chain. Although not actually a “pin,” a chain connected two such pieces and was run through button holes to hold a cape closed. These are found in various shapes including busts of popular personalities. This one is in the shape of a star & crescent and approximately 1” across.

This “pin” is stamped brass and once had a loop soldered to the back. Only the solder mark remains. Accompanying this is a thick brass chain that was recovered with it.

Very nice “dug” condition with nice patina.  Recovered from camp site near Fredericksburg, Virginia.  [jet] [ph:L]
