This “dug” Federal cartridge box plate is the small size of the regulation 1839. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US” with nice smooth face and dark brown patina. Retains 100% of lead fill; no maker’s mark. The two wire loops remain perfectly intact. Measures approximately 70mm x 40mm.

Reported to have been recovered around Chancellorsville, Va. In very fine, “relic” condition, typical of relics recovered in the 1970s or earlier. A scarce plate in very fine condition.   [jet][ph:L]
