This US shoulder belt plate was affixed to the front of the shoulder belt for the infantry cartridge box. It features the spread-winged eagle design. Brass face retains fine detail. Even dark brown patina overall with some lead oxidation around edges. Complete lead fill on reverse with both iron loops. Lightly stamped into the lead on the back is the maker’s mark, “W.H. SMITH / BROOKLYN”.

In very good “dug” condition. Recovered at Corinth, Mississippi.   [jet][ph:L]
