This is a “dug” brass fuse in such clean condition that it appears non-excavated. Beautiful brass fuse perfect for fuse collection or to screw into a Schenkl shell that needs a fuse. Patent information stamped on top, “J. P. SCHENKL / PAT. OCT. 10, 1861”. Anvil still unscrews and internal slider moves freely. Threads are good and there is an interesting “thread line” trailing down the length of the fuse.

The only real indications that this was fired/excavated are a slight bend on the top flange, a more typical dark patina on the slider, and that the safety screw was sheared off.   [jet][ph:L]
